The Growth Mindset. Developed by psychologist Carol Dweck, the growth mindset is an educational principle which indicates that a person's true potential is unknowable (not static). It says that by viewing failure as an opportunity for growth and letting go of the need to prove our abilities to the external world, we open ourselves up to deeper learning, development, and satisfaction.
A quote worth repeating:
If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." — Shirley Chisholm (Such an inspiring reminder of the importance of perseverance and inclusion!)
For fans of design in general, “Dense Discovery” by Offscreen Media is one of the most consistently rewarding newsletters I subscribe to. It always has a great mix of current topics, interesting profiles, and inspirational work. Even the classifieds are highly targeted and usually introduce me to something new.
A podcast worth listening to:
“Modern Finance” by Kevin Rose. I’m fascinated by all the new stuff happening in Crypto, DeFi, and NFT markets and Kevin’s enthusiam and curiosity are infectious. Weekly overviews of what’s happening around the space, plus great discussions with key industry people. In depth, but beginner-friendly.
